If you live with Young Onset Parkinson’s (YOP), you know that the right supports can make all the difference. That’s why we’re urging our community to speak up in the current NDIS Evidence Advisory Committee consultation, open until 9 November 2025 consultations.health.gov.au.

Your voice matters: Remember when art therapy was removed from the NDIS list? It was reinstated after people like you spoke up. This is another moment where your voice can shape the future of disability supports.

The committee is reviewing Smart Home Appliances used for cooking, cleaning, and gardening. These include:

  • Robotic vacuum cleaners
  • Automated cooking devices
  • Smart lawn mowers

These tools can reduce physical strain and support independence, especially helpful for those navigating tremors, fatigue, or mobility changes.

NOTE: Not included in this review: smartwatches, tablets, smartphones, apps, or full home automation systems.

Accredited Exercise Physiology is also under review. It’s a vital support for people with YOP, helping maintain mobility, balance, and overall health. Exercise physiologists are university-trained professionals who tailor movement programs to your needs.

You can contribute by:

Deadline: 11:59pm AEDT, 9 November 2025

Let’s make sure the supports that matter to people living with Parkinson’s, like smart appliances and exercise physiology, stay on the list. Your personal experiences provide strong evidence to back up the need for these to stay on the NDIS.
