The transition period for NDIS participants using NDIS supports lists ends on October 3, 2025, after which the NDIS will no longer provide grace periods for incorrect claims under $1,500. There is a webinar TOMORROW Tue, 23 Sep, 12:30pm – 1:30pm ACST to discuss these changes (SOLD OUT).
NDIS Support List Changes – What You Need to Know
The 12-month transition period for NDIS support list changes ends on 3 October 2025. After this date, the NDIS will no longer give grace periods for incorrect claims under $1,500.
What’s changed?
In October 2024, the government introduced a clear definition of what counts as an NDIS support. This helps everyone understand what NDIS funds can and can’t be used for.
To give people time to adjust, a 12-month grace period was put in place — but it’s ending soon.
- You have until October 3, 2025 to fix any spending mistakes without being asked to repay.
- After that, if you buy something that’s not on the approved list, you may need to pay the money back.
- You can only get two warnings for small mistakes (under $1,500) during the transition period.
What this means for people with young onset Parkinson’s
If you were diagnosed with Parkinson’s before age 65, you may be eligible for NDIS support through the early intervention stream or already on a plan. These changes won’t affect most plans, but they do make it clearer what’s covered.
What you can do now:
- Review your plan to make sure your supports match the updated NDIS list.
- Check the “Ins & Outs” list on the NDIS site for a simple guide to what’s covered.
- Talk to your plan manager or support coordinator if you’re unsure or need help updating your plan.

- If you’re unsure whether your current supports are affected, or you’re planning to apply for NDIS for the first time, your state or territory Parkinson’s organisation (1800 644 189) and the YOPX app have resources to guide you through the process.
