Parkinson’s purple goes BLUE for global awareness!
On behalf of Parkinson’s Australia, PD Avengers and the Global Alliance to End Parkinson’s Disease Association, we invite you to join us to illuminate Australian landmarks for the 12 million people living with Parkinson’s worldwide. We believe lighting up landmarks in blue can be a powerful symbol of solidarity and advocacy for over 150,000 Aussies living with Parkinson’s.
#SparktheNight helps people and organisations come together to shine a light on Parkinson’s, fostering hope and increased understanding of the challenges those living with the condition face.
This year, we’ve had an incredible response to our #SparktheNight campaign, with over 75 landmarks lighting up across Australia, including the Big Banana, The Gabba, Adelaide Oval, National Assets like the Royal Australian Mint, & Council Assets around Brisbane, Bunbury, the Gold Coast, Townsville, Ipswich, Unley, Palmerston, and Perth!
Our Ask
- Illumination: Medium Blue (#0000CD), or 0, 0, 205 RGB
- Lighting dates: April 6 to April 12, 2026
- If one day only: 11 April 2026 WORLD PARKINSON’S DAY
What can you do?
If you are out and about April 6 to 12 and see something lit up, feel free to take a selfie, post it and tag @parkinsonsaus #SparktheNight. You can also email them to yopx@parkinsons.org.au to be included in our 2026 wrap-up video.
#Sparklets
This year, we are also encouraging YOU to light something up in BLUE as a #sparklet for the cause. Fishtanks, house lights and decorating your scooter with blue lights are all examples of #sparklets!
