What is the 1800MEDICARE app?
The 1800MEDICARE app is a safe and secure place to keep your key health information, available to you, your representatives and your healthcare providers anytime, including in an emergency. Healthcare providers involved in your care, like doctors, pathologists, and pharmacists, can upload clinical documents to your record during and after your appointment. You have control over your information that is shared, and can restrict documents from being viewed, as well as choose which healthcare organisations can view it at any time.
What information is available on the 1800MEDICARE app?
1800MEDICARE app information includes:
- Your personal medical conditions and medical history
- Results from your scans
- Current medications
- Current prescribed medications and medication history
- Electronic prescriptions and Active Script List
- Pathology results
- Allergy and reactions information
- Hospital discharge summaries
- View Advance Care Planning Documents
- Organ donation choices
- Find and book a health service.
How do you access the 1800MEDICARE app?
The 1800MEDICARE app is set up online. An internet connection is required to set up and access my health app on your mobile device or tablet. It provides users secure and convenient access to your health information, anytime. It can be set up and accessed via your tablet or mobile device.
Before you access my health app on a mobile or device, you must have the following:

- A myGov account linked to My Health Record
- Accessed My Health Record at least once via a computer.

App security on your device
The 1800MEDICARE app has been built with your security in mind. Set up a secure 6-digit PIN in addition to your device’s security. You can change your PIN in the account page of the app.
If you know or suspect your PIN has been compromised, or if you have any other concerns about the security of your 1800MEDICARE app, you should change your PIN immediately.
1800MEDICARE will automatically log you out of the app if you haven’t used it for 5 minutes. You can read more in the privacy policy.
Android devices
1800MEDICARE app aims to provide the highest level of security for your health information. Android does not currently recognise face recognition as the highest level of security, so you cannot use it to access 1800MEDICARE. For Android OS version 9, you will be prompted to add a PIN when you first use the 1800MEDICARE app.
For later versions of Android OS, you will be asked to enter your PIN/Pattern/ Password. You can also set an additional PIN for extra security.
Fingerprints are recognised as the highest level security for Android OS version 10 and above, but not for Android OS 9. If you’re using Android OS version 10 and above, you can use Fingerprints to access 1800MEDICARE. You can also set an additional PIN for extra security. If you’re using Android OS version 9, you cannot use Fingerprints. You will be prompted to add a PIN when you first use the 1800MEDICARE app.*
